Solar Control Window Films - Net Positive

Energy Saving Benefits

Our solar control window films significantly reduce heat gain through the glazing, helping to maintain cooler and more comfortable indoor environments. By lowering the demand on air-conditioning systems, they contribute to reduced energy consumption, lower carbon emissions, and an improved overall carbon footprint throughout the building’s lifecycle. To support sustainable building decisions, this page presents our Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), which offer transparent and verified data regarding the environmental impact of our solar control window films. 4 reports were already published: Interior Solar and Safety Window Film up to 4 mil Exterior Solar and Safety Window Film up to 4 mil Specially Selective Window Film XTRM Pro Window Film

EPD - Interior Window Films

Our first Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) report, summarizes the carbon footprint of our Architectural interior window films up to 4 mil thickness. Based on the LCA analysis, the carbon footprint of our product was calculated per sqm of product.

For Example, R Silver 20i is estimated by the GWP (Global Warming Potential) also recognized as Total Climate Change - at 1.35 kg CO2 eq / sqm.

EPD - External Window Films

Our new Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) report, summarizes the carbon footprint of our Architectural External window films up to 4 mil thickness. Based on the LCA analysis, the carbon footprint of our product was calculated per sqm of product.

For Example, R Silver 20x is estimated by the GWP (Global Warming Potential) also recognized as Total Climate Change - at 1.45 kg CO2 eq / sqm.

EPD - Spectrally Selective Window Films

Our new Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) report, summarizes the carbon footprint of our Architectural Spectrally Selective Window Film. Based on the LCA analysis, the carbon footprint of our product was calculated per sqm of product.

For Example, SP e-Lite 70X is estimated by the GWP (Global Warming Potential) also recognized as Total Climate Change - at 2.18 kg CO2 eq / sqm.

EPD - XTRM Pro Window Films

Our new Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) report, summarizes the carbon footprint of our Architectural XTRM Pro Window Film. Based on the LCA analysis, the carbon footprint of our product was calculated per sqm of product.

For Example, Silver 20 XTRM Pro is estimated by the GWP (Global Warming Potential) also recognized as Total Climate Change - at 2.86 kg CO2 eq / sqm.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

  • To quantify the potential energy savings, we simulated these products using eQUEST software. eQUEST is a software used for detailed comparative analysis of building designs and technologies via advanced energy use simulation. It calculates overall building energy consumption based on parameters like building type, dimensions, glazing, location (linking to climate data), and cooling/heating systems.
  • Annual energy savings results were converted to carbon footprint estimation presented in kg CO2, in accordance with published energy information administration per each location. For example, R Silver 20i when applied on a 6 mm single pane in Europe saves an average of 21 kg CO2 /sqm* per 1 year.
  • Combining both results of LCA along with the energy saving simulated, results in net positive carbon in less than a year and in some cases even less than a month. Meaning more carbon is removed from the atmosphere than emitted through a product’s life cycle, resulting in a positive environmental impact within a short period of time.
