The challenge
In Mönchengladbach, Germany, an aging steel facade of a residential complex had started to show visible signs of wear. The surface had faded and deteriorated over time, calling for renovation. Traditional solutions like repainting or replacing the façade would have been costly, disruptive, and less sustainable. The goal was to find a modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly alternative that could renew the exterior while maintaining its identity.
The solution
To achieve this, Marijn Inic, a project manager at RealEstate Foil GmbH, recommended using Avery Dennison Facade Film - a durable and sustainable solution for exterior renovation. The Facade Film portfolio includes a colour-matching service, which was used in this project to create a new shade that matched the architect’s brief. With up to 10 years of durability, excellent conformability, and strong weather resistance, the film gave the building a new, modern appearance while preserving its structure and reducing waste.
The results
The project delivered a striking visual transformation and a refreshed, modern look. The film allowed for a fast and quiet renovation, avoiding noise and disruption for tenants. Beyond the visual improvement, the facade film proved to be a sustainable choice, extending the life of the existing materials and reducing environmental impact.
