Wrapped Weather Fleet Hits the Streets

Troy Downey, president of APE Wraps and a certified Avery Dennison wrap installer, recently installed digitally printed wraps and graphics on the Toyota Mobile Weather Fleet for The Weather Channel. The fleet—including a RAV4, Prius v and 4Runner—is equipped with portable weather stations and televisions capable of displaying radar and weather graphics. Meteorologists in the field are able to receive extremely accurate weather data to provide viewers with the most up-to-date information.

APE Wraps received the branded designs for the graphics, and their designers tailored them to fit the nuances of each car, while considering the curves, bumpers and windows.

The cars were wrapped in digitally printed Avery Dennison MPI 1005 Supercast Easy Apply RS™ with DOL 1360 overlaminate to protect the graphics and provide the durability and conformability needed. The window graphics were printed on MPI 3529, featuring a 50/50 perforation pattern, and protected with DOL 1560 Optically Clear overlaminate.

The fleet is stationed in Atlanta and New York and can be deployed to cover weather events at a moment’s notice.
