“Brand New Mercedes Benz SLS63 AMG Wrapped by DBX in Ultra Matte Red Avery Dennison® Supreme Wrapping Film” by Ara Hakobyan from Diamond Black Exteriors, won the grand prize in the “Wrap Like a King” Challenge.

Avery Dennison recently announced that “Brand New Mercedes Benz SLS63 AMG Wrapped by DBX in Ultra Matte Red Avery Dennison® Supreme Wrapping Film” by Ara Hakobyan from Diamond Black Exteriors, won the grand prize in the “Wrap Like a King” Challenge featuring Avery Dennison® Supreme Wrapping Films.

“I’m thrilled that my project, the Mercedez Benz SLS63, won the ‘Wrap Like A King’ Challenge. The competition was a great way to show off my application skills and bring attention to customized car wraps,” said Hakobyan. “Thank you to Avery Dennison for holding the Challenge and everyone who voted for the wrap on the SLS63. The grand prize and opportunity to go to the SEMA Show 2013 are amazing.”

“The number of wrap projects and passion of the installers and companies that participated in the Challenge was what we had hoped for,” said Meghan, marketing manager at Avery Dennison. “Congratulations to Ara Hakobyan, on his winning wrap entry. We want to thank everyone who submitted an entry and voted in the Challenge for participating.”

The three runners up in the final round of voting were: “NEV-R-BEN-DONE” by Jeremy Dyer in second place, “CHROME N’ LIME” by Jeffrey Chudoff in third place and “SHE’S MY CHERRY PIE (a vinyl restoration project)” by Sino Tour in fourth place.

The “Wrap Like a King” Challenge drew 158 car wrap submissions from vehicle wrap installers throughout North America. Six professional judges narrowed the entries down to 32 finalists. Through four rounds of public voting, finalists competed for the grand prize, which included $2,000 in cash and a trip to SEMA Show 2013.

“The overall diversity of the car wrap entries entered in the ‘Wrap Like A King’ Challenge was amazing!” said Paul Roba, North America technical manager, Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions, and judge for the Challenge. “The range of entries highlighted the full spectrum of vehicle wrap options from the subtle beauty and simplicity of a solid color change film installation, to the innovation and risk of a multi-film and technology entry using new converting techniques. Looking back on all the entries, it was an honor to be able judge the superior quality and performance, and at the same time a difficult task to choose one over another.”

Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions hosted the competition with supporting sponsors, West Coast Customs and Croftgate USA. A total of over $25,000 in prizes was given away to participants and voters.
